Right now I am reading the 6th book in the Clique series, Dial L for Loser. Since the Pretty Commitee has been expelled from Octavian Country Day private school (for all girls), they have a lot of free time, which means shopping. If i got expelled from school, my parents would ground me for life. I wouldn't be able to go outside or talk to any of my friends. Since Massie, Dylan, and Alicia are very rich, they get to go shopping whenever they want as long is its "Educational." Claire and Kristen aren't very rich and so they just tag along. I wish my parents would let me be so free and let me have fun if i got in trouble at school, like being expelled.

I think that the only reason "the clique" can have so much freedom is because their parents know why they were expelled and think that going shopping won't interfere with any punishment. Also I was wondering how shopping could be educational: did they just pretend they were doing something educational to go shopping in the first place?
